I started making patchwork and quilted items after doing a city and guilds fashion and design course We had a project to do on accessories, I made a quilted bag and got hooked in the process.
After having my fourth child I made small patchwork item to sell ar craft fairs and quilts for all the family. Initially I used other people's designs. Since going to Loughborough College of Art abd Design in 1989-90 I prefer to use my own. The Loughborough course was in textile design, it was very hard work and I achieved a distinction.
I draw my inspiration from all sorts of things; architecture, nature and stained glass windows, animals etc.
I somtimes I describe my work as painting with fabrics. I work very long hours and sometimes the family does not approve-It is something I just have to do.
