Sandra Newton

I started quilting in 2007, though I admit to a hexagon beanbag in the 70's ! I found City & Guilds in 2008, studying for the certificate and diploma with Barbara Weeks at Missenden Abbey and was awarded the Medal of Excellence for Stitched Textiles in 2013. As part of Threaded Together I work towards exhibitions with some of the artists I met during City and Guilds.

I create my own fabric, usually using a range of screen and monoprinting techniques with procion dyes but I also use acrylic paint. My work usually includes a textual inspiration and often includes raw edge applique.

Alongside textiles I am a keen photographer and rambler.
